An Aerospace Equipment Manufacturer understood its problem. Maintaining large inventories of stocked parts and materials entails significant costs. Acquisition cost is only part of inventory cost. There are significant costs associated with simply keeping large volumes of inventory assets available to the production process.
To increase accountability of all inventory assets and to minimize expenditures associated with holding these assets, the Aerospace Manufacturer turned to DataWeb. Working with one of our qualified systems developers a secure, fully hosted inventory portal was developed that allowed the suppliers of various parts to see immediately the amount of their particular part or material that was remaining in “inventory”. In this way, the inventoried assets were not allowed to fall below predetermined levels and the cost of maintaining these assets were kept to a reasonable minimum.
Working from the information provided thru this secure portal, suppliers could immediately request a purchase order to re-stock to predetermined levels. Working thru this portal, the Aerospace Manufacturer and their suppliers could build a more collaborative working relationship. Presently, there are more than 100 parts suppliers working thru this enterprise specific portal.
Customer Experience:
“I was quite impressed how working with DataWeb we managed to design and developed a full featured Inventory Management System in a matter of months. By using a secure Web site, our suppliers are required to check real time the volumes of their parts routinely and to keep supplies to required levels. This has allowed us to reduce the costs of keeping inventoried assets on site; while building a more disciplined relationship with our suppliers. I can highly recommend DataWeb for the deployment of business applications such as inventory management and purchase order processing.”
