A software company in Oslo, Norway was approached by a number of companies who had to ship large numbers of unique, separate products throughout Europe, the United States and Canada. The task of managing the shipping documents and getting those documents quickly into the hands of business associates, port authorities, banks and custom officials had traditionally been managed via individual faxes and emails with a large numbers of scanned attachments. Keeping track of these documents and getting those documents properly assigned to a particular package of goods was becoming more and more difficult. In addition, the costs associated with managing this paper system were sky rocketing.

To address this situation, the Sy-Nett Software Company in Oslo turned to DataWeb. With DataWeb it became possible to design, build and deploy a fully function portal for managing shipping documents and logistics for Norwegian Freight Forwarders. This included companies involved in both the import and export of goods.

The industry portal is called Trasport247 and contains hundreds of useful links for the shipping industry in Europe. With DataWeb, Sy-Nett wrote its own Track and Trace module which contains links to over 100 different shipping companies that participate in the portal. As an added feature, Sy-Nett is using DataWeb to continuously update shipping news, changing government regulations and rates for each branch location.
